According to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), visitor arrivals in April 2010 have increased by 2.3% to 38,694, compared to the same month last year.
In April 2010, there has been sustained growth of 45.3% in visitor arrivals from China which is one of the fastest growing tourist markets for Nepal. Visitor arrivals from Malaysia and South Korea, have also registered a positive growth of 14.2%, and 20.3% respectively.
The figures show increasing trend in the visitor arrivals from the United States of America and Canada with a growth of 3% and 8.3% respectively. However visitors from Australia and New Zealand decreased.
European markets registered negative growth of 5.5% with major destinations showing mixed reaction in terms of visitor arrivals. Arrivals from Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Poland and Russia are up by 5.7%, 61.4%, 4%, 15.5%, 67.2% and 11.6% respectively.
This is the eleventh consecutive month Nepal has witnessed growth in the international tourist arrivals.
