Tiger counting carried out at the Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve in Kanchanpur western Nepal has shown  an increase in  the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger's population  to ten. Four male and female tigers each and two cubs were found at the reserve during the tiger count which was done through camera trapping system by National Nature Conservation Trust. As many as 32 camera trappings were done in the counting in 107 places of the reserve.

Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve used to be the Royal Hunting Ground of Nepalese royals before being declared a national wildlife reserve in 1973.The reserve is home to many endangered mammals and birds and tropical plants.
