September Arrivals

According to figures released by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) visitor arrivals in the month of September 2010 have increased by 20.6% to 41,331, compared to the same month last year. South Asian region posted a positive growth of 49.1% with arrivals from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan showing an upward trend at 79.5%, 40.9%, and 43.9 .Arrivals from Malaysia (68.5%), South Korea (52.1%), Singapore (3.7% ) and Thailand (8.9%) have also registered positive growth.Arrivals from Europe grew to 9.4% with arrivals from Germany , Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Denmark up by 33 %, 5.1%, 8.4%, 8.2% and 45.1 % respectively.The figures also show increasing trend in the visitor arrivals from New Zealand , USA and Canada.

Visitor Arrivals-August 2010

The figures released by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) reveal that visitor arrivals in the month of August 2010, compared to the same month last year, have increased by 24.3% to 34,415. The arrivals from South Asian region have shown an overall positive growth of 34.9% with the highest arrivals recorded from Sri Lanka (57%). A substantial growth of 68.3% arrivals was recorded from  China.  Europe registered overall positive growth of 18.9% with major source markets showing positive trend. Visitor arrivals from Australia and New Zealand grew by  16.8% and 28.1% respectively. Similarly arrivals from USA  registered positive growth of 16.8%.

A total of 40,908 foreign tourists departed from TIA in August 2010.The number of Nepalese arrivals stood at 49,379 while 63,173 Nepalese departed from TIA in August 2010.

Tourist Arrivals-June 2010

According to a press release issued by the Department of Immigration, Tribhuvan International Airport, tourist arrivals to the country posted a healthy figure of 26,997 in the month of June, an increase by 16.3 percent as compared to the same period last year. Arrivals increased by 22.2 percent from South Asia with 51.4 percent from Bangladesh, 13 percent from Pakistan and 20.9 percent from India. Tourist arrivals from China also recorded a growth of 13.5 percent while visitors from Malaysia and Singapore have increased tremendously by 59.6 percent and 100.4 percent respectively. Arrivals from Europe show apositive growth of 6.2 percent. Arrivals from Austria, France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Russia and Poland have risen by 50.8 percent, 34.7 percent, 13.7 percent, 59.4 percent, 105.3 percent, 49.3 percent and 19.6 percent respectively.Arrivals from Canada and USA have posted an increase of 21 percent and 16.7 percent .

Tourist Arrivals in May

According to figures released by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) visitor arrivals in the month of May 2010,have increased by 6% as compared to the same month last year. China recorded double digit growth of 35% while visitor arrivals from Japan have registered a positive growth of 13.9%. The arrivals from South Asian region, have gained overall positive growth of 6%. European markets registered overall positive growth of 10.8% Arrivals from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Czech Republic and Poland are up by 4.9%, 14.2%, and 47.5%, 12.3%, 20.9%, 75% and 278.6% respectively. Likewise arrivals from USA are up by 10.4%.A total of 34,964 foreign tourists departed from TIA in May 2010.
