Driving on the Friendship Highway.

Mr. Baadsgaard Michael, Ms. Hart Liv Baadsgaard and Ms. Hart Susan are a family. On July 11 2012, they landed at Tribhuvan International Airport to spend their vacation. Explore Himalaya put their all efforts to facilitate their stay and tour. The Danish family enjoyed sightseeing around Kathmandu valley on July 12 and 13.

Kathmandu Durbar Square.

They visited historic and religious centers of the valley. On July 14, they had the flight to Lasha. During their three stays stay at Lasha they visited Sera Monastery, Norbulingka Monastery and the majestic Potala Palace. They witnessed the Tibetan lifestyle and its culture at the Barkhor square. They acclimatized with the altitudes during the stay at Lasha.

Highland Monastery.

From the roof of the world or say world’s highest plateau they hit their road on Friendship Highway to Gyantse 3950m on the 4WD Land Cruiser passing the Gyatso La Pass 5220m and the beautiful Yamdrok Tso Lake 4447m on July 18. At Gyantse, they were overwhelmed to view the Gyantse Dzong and the Kumbum Monastery. Next day, they drove 90 kilometers to reach to the city of Shigaste 3900m.

Riverside drive.

The second largest city in Tibet, Shigaste prides on Tashilhunpo Monastery. On July 20, the family was at Shegar 4050m after the tiring drive of 244 kilometers. Shegar is the gateway to famous Rongbuk Monastery and the Everest Base Camp. On July 21, after 68 kilometers drive the family was viewing the Everest from Everest Base Camp 5364m.

In between Mountains.

They took an opportunity to visit Rongbuk Monastery 5000m; a working monastery at the highest altitude. They made their way back to Shegar and straight away headed Zhangmu. Zhangmu is the last city in Tibet before leaving the Friendship Highway.

On July 23, the family crossed the Friendship Bridge over Bhote Koshi River and was escorted to Kathmandu along Araniko Highway. On July 24, they were on the plane to their home.
