Visitor arrivals in the month of October 2011 crossed the 70,000 mark for monthly air arrival for the first time in the history of tourism in Nepal. According to figures released by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), visitor arrivals in October increased by 16.8% to 73,264 as compared to the same month last year.
Arrivals from Asia (excluding SAARC region) saw overall increase of 40%. The Asian market recorded a positive growth with arrivals from China at 105.9%, South Korea 29.4%, Thailand 23.6% and Japan at 7.3% . SAARC region also posted positive growth of 19.4%.
But the highest number of visitors were recorded from the European sector, with total visitor arrivals of 34166, an overall positive growth of 15.1%. Arrivals from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Israel, Spain, Switzerland and UK were up by 18.2%, 48.8%,19.3%,25.5%,88.3%, 20.7%,15.8%, and 7.3% respectively. Arrivals from the United States of America also went up by 5.4%.
All the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They accommodated all requests to the best of their ability. The trek was a good level of difficulty for our students. Meals have been excellent, especially on the trek. Porters were extremely polite and helpful. Service was very good.
