Dhaulagiri is one of the most popular climbing peaks, in Nepalese Himalayas. The seventh highest mountain in the world, Dhaulagiri at 8000m lies north-west of Pokhara . Dhaulagiri extends 120 km from the Kaligandaki River in the west to extreme west until Bheri. The name “Dhaulagiri” is derived according to the Sanskrit script where (dhawala) means dazzling or white and (giri) means mountain. The unique landscape of Dhaulagiri is the reason why it is one of the popular climbing peaks for Mountaineers all over the globe.

Dhaulagiri was first discovered in 1808, and it was thought to be the highest mountain in the world for westerners. The mighty Mountain was first concurred by Swiss/Austrian/Nepali expedition on May 13, 1960. The mountain was assumed as the highest peak for 30 years before its place was taken by Kanchenjunga.
