American Jordan Romero(13 years) the youngest person to climb Mt Everest, announced in Kathmandu that he would be climbing Mt.Cho Oyu next. He plans to climb the 8,201-metre peak this autumn. Mt Cho Oyu, the world’s sixth highest peak straddles the Nepal-China border. According to Nepalese law climbers under 16 years of age are barred from climbing high mountain peaks.Thus Romero will be attempting his feat from Tibet side. He had scaled Mt Everest from the Tibet side a week ago.
Jordan Romero, who is just 13 years old, became the youngest climber to summit Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world. He reached the summit(North – Tibet side) today, 22nd May 2010. The American teenager from Big Bear, California broke Temba Sherpa’s record who summitted the peak at the age of 16,thus becoming the youngest climber to summit Everest.
Jordan climbed the peak with his father, his father’s friend and three Sherpa guides. Everest was his first challenge above 8,000 meters (26,240 feet). Jordan plans to climb the highest peaks on all the continents.
