The entry fee to Sagarmatha National Park has been hiked from 22nd June. The new rate of entry fees are as follows:
Tourists from SAARC region : NRs 1,500 per head
Other tourists: Rs 3,000 per head
Nepalese:NRS 25 per head
While Nepalese nationals were exempted from paying the entry fee previously, the new rule has even the Nepalese(tourists as well as guides and porters) paying the entry fee to enter the park. Trails of all popular Everest treks leads through the Sagarmatha National Park.

Hello!
I am very interested in trekking to Mount EBC with a couple of friends this summer. We have all hiked to tremendous locations in the past. We are looking to trek in the month of July or late July into early August. When we reach to Sagarmatha N.P., will there be anything stopping us from entering into the park?
Do we need a permit to trek?
Do we need a guide, although we are practically experts?
Do we require any type of travel insurance?
OR do we just simply pay the 3,000 NRs per person to enter?
Also, to trek to Mount EBC and be close to the mountain itself require a pass?
Thank you very much in advance to answering my questions, it could really help me plan my trip as we are all budgeting for the trip! 🙂

Namaste Natasha,
Sorry for a bit late response. Regarding your inquiry, answers to most of your questions is “YES”. Yes you do need trek permit (TIMS) issued by Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal and of course you a licensed guide. Again, you do need the travel insurance of the credit card having the limit of at least 5000 USD. Your inquiry has been forwarded to the Sales Department and they will come up with the details.
