Namje featured on CNN’s 12 Best Unheard of Places

Posted Dec 8th, 2011 under Company News, Tourism News,

Namje, a small Magar village in Dhankuta in eastern Nepal has been named one of the 12 best unheard of places by CNN. The hill top village of Namje is inaccessible by road and one has to take an arduous trek to reach it. This has kept the village largely isolated and only a handful of tourists have visited this village. Stunning views of Mt. Makalu and the low lying river valleys can be enjoyed from the village.
Other places in the ‘12 best places you’ve never heard of’ list include Lord Howe Island in Australia, Saint-Sauvant in France, Keahiakawelo in Hawaii, Verduno in Italy etc.

  1. Nice to see information about NAMJE on your website . It is really nice place to visit. I was there at the end of March 2012. it is good in your information sheet that the village is connected with black topped road (single lane) and only to reach top of Namje it takes 10-15 minutes walk..

Happy Explorers

We find it very important that our travelling contributes to the preservation of Nepal’s fragile and beautiful nature. We encourage Kipling Travels and Explore Himalaya to start working with different tea-houses / lodges and hotels on sustainability initiatives- like waste recycling, solar heating etc.
