Culture on your plate – Local Eateries

Posted Mar 13th, 2012 under Food & Accommodation,

If you really want to immerse yourself in the culture of a country you are visiting, you got to follow the locals – do what they do, eat what they eat and drink what they drink. The saying ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do,’ holds true if you really want to experience the country inside out.

Kathmandu, a tourist haven has lots of restaurants, pubs and hotels of international class that caters to all kinds of tourists. But the fare that is dished out at these establishments is nothing that a commoner has on his plate. BBC’s travel writer Thomas Bell found out what works for the local taste buds by visiting Kathmandu’s local eateries, from the fiery ‘aila’ to buffalo meat snacks, he tries it all. Read about it on ‘Nepal’s local eateries‘.
