Coronavirus Threat in Nepal Update #3

Following our second update on coronavirus threat in Nepal, please find our third update (As of March 13, 2020) :

  1. Government of Nepal has decided to temporarily suspend visa-on-arrival for all foreigners and Non-Resident Nepalis (NRN) to be effective from 14th March 2020 till 30th April 2020. (Source: Department of Immigration, Government of Nepal)

 

  1. All foreigners and NRNs with prior visa have to submit a swab test Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Health Certificate issued maximum 7 days before their arrival in Nepal. (Source: Department of Immigration, Government of Nepal)

 

  1. Any foreigners and NRNs willing to visit Nepal for compelling reasons have to contact Nepali diplomatic missions abroad. A recent swab test PCR Health Certificate issued maximum 7 days before their arrival to Nepal is mandatory along with visa application and it has to be submitted at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA).   1. All foreigners, NRNs and Nepalis entering Nepal since 14th March 2020 are subjected to stay in quarantine for 14 days from the date of their arrival. Foreigners are to stay in self-quarantine and NRNs and Nepali nationals are to stay in home quarantine. (Source: Department of Immigration, Government of Nepal)

 

  1. All land entry points in Nepal remain closed to all the foreigners from third countries and are requested to use TIA as the only entry and exit point (Source: Department of Immigration, Government of Nepal)

 

  1. All the permits for mountaineering expeditions issued and to be issued for Spring 2020 season are suspended. (Source: Department of Immigration, Government of Nepal)

 

  1. A total of 43 land entry points have health desk service. Source: Ministry of Health, Government of Nepal)

 

  1. As of March 12, a total of 450 samples have been tested out of which 449 have proved corona negative. (Source: Ministry of Health, Government of Nepal)
