Nepal Tourism Year 2011 has been launched with the target of bringing in 1 million tourists to Nepal. Of the 1 million visitors, Nepal Government is expecting 700,000 visitors to arrive via air. To make this possible, the Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation(MoTCA) has decided to permit international airlines flying to and from Kathmandu to operate additional flights during 2011. Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has been directed to  issue Temporary Operating Permit (TOP) to airlines to operate additional flights during lean hours till the end of 2011. At present there are 27 international airlines operating in Nepal.
