Four Danish citizens Mr. Jens Neilsen, Ms. Fritse Neilsen , Mr. John Petersen and Ms. Elsie Petersen made the perfect decision to pick Explore Himalaya as their travel guide during their Kathmandu-Lasha- Kathmandu Overland Tour. They landed at TIA on October 9. Before flying to Lasha on October 13, they had the wonderful sightseeing tour around the Kathmandu city for three days.
Upon arrival at Lasha on 13th, their Overland tour was just to begin. They had three days in Lasha. First two days, they visited the tranquil Monasteries like Sera, Norbulingka and Deprung situated at the Roof of the world. They took time to visit the ancient palace; Potala Palace. The third day they wondered around the Barkhor Square; a typical Tibetan flavored market to buy souvenirs and for acclimatizing purpose. On 17th, penetrating the Gyatso La Pass 5220m, they drove 261 kilometers on the 4WD Land Cruiser to the city of Gynatse after the mesmerizing view of Yamdrok Tso Lake 4447m.
Gyantse is the city of Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum Monastery. On 18th the Cruiser headed towards Shigaste 3900m. The day covered only 90 kilometers. Next day after 244 km drive along the Friendship Highway they arrived to Shegar 4050m which is the gateway to famous Rongbuk Monastery and the Everest Base Camp. On 20th, they left the Friendship Highway and drove towards the Rongbuk Monastery 5000m and the Everest Base Camp 5150m.
After the most wonderful views of the Everest and the other 8000m + mountains from the EBC two couples were at Zhangmu on October 21. Leaving the custom city Zhangmu behind, they crossed the Chinese immigration via Frienship Bridge over Bhote Koshi River and entered Nepal on 22nd. After the completion of 1000km exciting journey in the Tibetan Highlands they finally were at Kathmandu on 22nd. On 23rd they checked in the terminal at TIA towards their home.
