At a ceremony held on 29th August 2010 at ‘Rashtrapati Bhawan’, the official residence of the Indian President,Wing Commander Jai Kishan from the Indian Air force received the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award from the President of India. The award was conferred to Mr. Jai Kishan by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in recognition of his world record for the Highest Skydive landing at Mount Everest Base Camp in 2009.

Mr. Jai Kishan had taken part in the Everest Skydive 2009 program organized by Explore Himalaya at Shyangboche and Kala Patthar from 17th to 28th October 2009. On 17 October 2009, he created an Indian record of undertaking skydive jump from the highest altitude (27,500ft) in the Everest region and on October 28th, 2009 at 9:20 am local time he made a World Record by landing at the highest landing zone of the world in the Everest region at an altitude of 17,192 ft.
Congratulating Wing Commander Jai Kishan for the World Record and for the Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award, Mr. Suman Pandey, President of Explore Himalaya said, “Achievement of Wing Commander Jai Kishan is an example for the young generation to prove their mettle and bring laurels to their country and accept new challenges”.
