Nepal signs for UN Convention to Safeguard Cultural Heritage

Nepal became the 125th country to sign the UNESCO Convention for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage.By being a member of the convention , Nepal recognises that cultural heritage is not limited to material manifestations( monuments, objects), but is extended to the traditions and living expressions inherited from ancestors.The government is committed to safeguard the rich and diverse living heritage( for example, folklore, oral traditions, social rituals, performing arts etc) of the country.
