4) Safety

Explore Himalaya always regard safety of its clients as utmost priority. Prior to venturing into a rafting trip, rafters are thoroughly briefed about the safety measures and rafting guidelines. Our river guide, having absolute expertise on white water rafting, CPR, swift water rescue and emergency wilderness first aid, accompanies rafters through out their trip. Rafts are of high quality and can survive wildest of rapids. Only after wearing helmets, life jackets and river-friendly clothes rafters will be allowed to take a rafting trip. We ensure that mountain bikers are equipped with a riding kit comprising cables, brake pads, food, water, a bigger first aid kit, crank remover, spare spokes, cassette remover, and extra clothing to remain protected from unseen danger. During strenuous trekking also, we ensure that the trekking team is within safety parameters. Trekking itineraries are designed in such a manner that the trekking crew can lead a safe journey after thorough acclimatization. We arrange hygienic food and safe drinking water to our clients. Our tour leaders and staff are trained professionals in crisis management. Only upon identifying all potential safety hazards and implementing appropriate safety measures, we offer our clients travel of a lifetime.

5) Traveling Responsibly

We ensure that all porters and all other staffs are provided with adequate clothing equipment and good working wages. We are the first ever company to supply high-altitude porters with crampons. Our insurance policy covers life insurance for porters and emergency helicopter insurance. We design and promote safe work environments where motivated staffs can flourish and reach their highest potential. We support the career aspirations of our staffs. Frequents trainings are provided to make the staffs more competent and highly skilled. We run the trek according to the guidelines of the International Porter Protection group (IPPG - www.ippg.net).

As a responsible ecotourism company, Explore Himalaya is very committed in raising awareness of all travellers towards the conservation of natural and cultural heritages and the cultural integrity of local communities. We believe that ecotourism can offer tourists an enlightening participatory travel experience to environments and in case of the local community a valuable economic opportunity along with the conservation and sustainable use of nature for future generations. Undeniably, ecotourism has a greater potential of becoming a leading source of revenues for Nepal. Henceforth, we aim to cultivate a strong sense of responsibility to foster sound ecotourism development in Nepal.

With the increasing tourism in the Himalayas, the natural resources are dwindling on being exposed to more pollution and environmental threats. Explore Himalaya's prime concerns are focused on environment conservation and management. We also strive to preserve fragile and endangered eco-systems.

Prior to travelling to the Himalayas, Explore Himalaya thoroughly educates its clients on how they should abide by certain guidelines and measures to conserve environment and respect Nature while exploring the cultural heritages of Nepal and other travel destinations. We strongly dissuade the practice of setting camp fires and using kerosene as an alternative fuel to wood for cooking so as to exterminate the chances of deforestation which is one of the greatest environmental threats Nepal is facing today. We also discourage trekkers from using wood-fuelled hot showers in lodges and it is quite a relief to see that many lodges now provide solar hot showers which is undeniably a far more eco-friendly alternative. We are highly caution about alerting our staffs and clients regarding the impacts of garbage disposal on the environment. When it comes to garbage management, after trekking or mountaineering our environment-friendly staffs dispose the garbage in the areas allocated by Nepal government.

Our aim is to help protect and preserve this beautiful environment for future generations of trekkers to enjoy.
