Greetings from Nepal!In this fall issue, we have an update on our ongoing community service project - Each One Teach One. The new tourist visa regulation and the revised permit fee in controlled areas have also made it to this edition's highlights. A new President and Prime Minister has been elected by the Constituent Assembly and three major political parties have reached consensus to form the government on a power sharing basis. With these new political developments, we can now hope for peace, progress and development in all spheres in the coming days. HIGHLIGHTSEVEREST SKYDIVING – 3rd- 6th OCTOBER, 2008
The management team of the Everest Skydiving program is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu by the fourth week of September 2008, while the clients are expected to arrive by October first week. The actual jumps (solo and tandem) will take place in Shyangboche from 3rd to 6th October '08. Prior to the skydiving program, the group will trek from Lukla to Jorsale, Namche Bazaar (with a visit to the Drop Zone), Tengboche, and Pheriche and finally reach the skydiving site, Shyangboche. FESTIVALS - Janai Purnima in Gosainkunda
Gosaikunda, (kunda literally means pond or lake) the shrine for many deities of regular Hindu pilgrimage, that lies in Rasuwa district, north from Kathmandu, Nepal. One of Nepal’s most famous religious places of pilgrimage is Gosainkunda Lake situated at an altitude of about 4,380 meters under the Langtang National Park. A huge number of visitors celebrated Janaipurnima festival on August 16, 2008 at Gosainkunda. COMMUNITY PROJECT - Each One Teach One
A function was organized on 26th July 2008 at Shree Bhairabi Higher Secondary School, Nuwakot, to award scholarships to conflict affected and underprivileged children, under Explore Himalaya's ongoing community project 'Each One Teach One'.
