Official Launch of Nepal tourism Year 2011
Feb 25th: Tomorrow is a big day for the Nepalese tourism fraternity, as the country will see the much awaited official launch of Nepal Tourism Year - 2011. To mark the launch a rally has been organized in Kathmandu, from Basantapur Durbar Square to Tundikhel. All members of tourism fraternity, business entrepreneurs and people from all walks of life are invited to take part in the rally with the national flag.The programme also includes a peace torch being brought from Lumbini to Kathmandu. The NTY 2011 secretariat head will pass on the torch to a renowned personality. After the Kathmandu launch, similar programmes will be organised at Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Chitwan, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, and Nepalgunj.

Nepal at Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show, California
Feb 25th: Nepal participated for the first time at the Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show, California. NTB, along with 8 private agencies participated in the travel show, held from Feb 13th to14th.There were more than 500 exhibitors.The show offered access to expert advice, domestic and international tour operators, value-priced vacation packages and show-only discounts.

Nepal at BIT, Milan
Feb 23rd: Nepal Tourism Board, along with four private trekking and travel agencies participated in the 30th Borsa Internazionale del Tourismo (BIT) held at Milan, Italy from 18th to 21st Feb 2010.

Nepal - India signs ASA
Feb 17th: Nepal and India signed a new air service agreement that aims to increase air seats from 6,000 per week to 30,000.The agreement was signed in New Delhi by Tourism Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari on behalf of Nepal and Minister for External Affairs SM Krishna on behalf of India.

Air Dynasty gets new chopper
Feb 16th: Air Dynasty, a Nepalese helicopter operating company, has acquired a brand new AS 350B2 helicopter from Eurocopter South East Asia, Singapore.With this, Air Dynasty's fleet has increased to four helicopters.

Nepal Open Paragliding Championship 2010 (Feb18th -20th)
Feb 15th: Pokhara Chapter of Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) is organizing the 11th Nepal Open Paragliding Championship in Pokhara from February 18th. The orgnizers are expecting about 150 gliders and over 45,000 spectators at Khapaudi (the landing site) during the three-day event.

NATO elects new executive body
Feb 15th: Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) unanimously elected a 14-member executive committee with Ashok Pokharel as the new President during its recently held 8th Annual General Meeting.

New addition to Air Kasthamandap's fleet
Feb 14th: Domestic airline Air Kasthamandap which operates flights to Surkhet to Simikot, Humla, Talcha, Rara, Jufal, Dolpa, Kolti, Bajura and Khalanga has added a new single-engine aircraft to its fleet.The aircraft, manufactured by New Zealand based Pacific Aerospace, is equipped with modern autopilot system.

Himalayan Guides Pathivara Marathon 2010
Feb 9th: Himalayan Guides Marathon is scheduled to be held on 12th Feb 2010 at Taplejung.The marathon is open for high altitude athletes abpve the age of 18 . The marathon covers 49 Kms, starting from Phunlin Bazaar (1824 m.) to Limbu cultural trail and up to Pathivara (3794 m.) and back again . The site of the event lies on the foothills of the Kanchenjunga peak.The event is organized by Himalayan Guides & Expeditions and promoted by NTB.

Second AS 350 B3 helicopter joins Fishtail Air's Fleet
Feb 4th: The second AS 350 B3 helicopter was delivered to Fishtail Air at the Singapore Air Show amid a function organized by the producer of the chopper, Eurocopter. The seven-seater copter, kept on display during the air show was handed over to Fishtail Air's chairman Bikash Rana by Eurocopter's president Lutz Bertling.

National Industrial Fair and Tourism Festival
Feb 3rd: Rupandhehi district is hosting the National Industrial Fair and Tourism Festival from 4th to14th February. The festival will feature a rally taken out by participants wearing different traditional costumes and cultural shows.Handicrafts from the hilly and Terai regions including garments, Mithila art items, pashmina etc will also be showcased. There will also be a photo exhibition on Chitwan and Lumbini.

Nepal & Singapore sign ASA
Feb 3rd: Air services agreement between Nepal and Singapore was signed on 2nd February, 2010. The ASA allows air carriers of both countries to operate 28 weekly passenger services apart from 14 weekly cargo services . Nagendra Prasad Ghimire, Nepal's MoTCA Secretary, and Choi Shing Kwok, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Transport, Singapore signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries.

Tourist Arrival in January 2010
Feb 2nd: Visitor arrivals in the month of January 2010 has been posted at 26,071, an increase by 18.8% compared to the same month last year. According to figures released by the Immigration Office, TIA the Asian segment has registered a positive growth of 15.4%, 34.9% from the European markets with arrivals from major generating markets such as the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland.Tourist arrivals from Australia, Canada and USA have also registered robust growth of 17.5%, 69.2% and 10.2% respectively.

Nepal at FESPO 2010, Zurich
Feb 1st: Nepal participated at the recently held tourism fair in Zurich, FESPO 2010, from January 28th to 31st. The embassy of Nepal in Switzerland in partnership with non- resident Nepalis living in Switzerland represented the country at the fair.
