The expedition team from Korea conquered Mount Everest, successfully completing there ascent from the “Tibet North Side” of the mountain to the 8,848 meter summit.

The expedition team was led by Mr. Jae Soo Kim with 19 other members- Mr. Seong Sang Kim, Mr. Sam Jun Youn, Mr. Sang Ho Lee, Mr. Jong Dae Kim, Mr. Gil Woo Kim, Mr. Chi Won Yun, Mr. Ju Jin, Mr. Jae Bok Jeang, Mr. Kyeong Hyo Park, Ms. Eun Suk Eom, Mr. Hyeong Geon Lee, Mr. Kwan Jae kim, Mr. Hyun Dai Shin, Mr. Cheol Ho Yoon, Mr. Ki Bong Song, Ms. Gui Hwa Song, Mr. In Kweun Cheung, Ms. Mi Sun Go and Mr. Sung In Yi, supported by experienced team of Sherpas from Explore Himalaya Mr. Pasang Gombu Sherpa (Sirdar), Galden Sherpa (Cook) and others.
The team left Kathmandu on 02 April via Zhangmu (Tibet) after a quick warm up session on Yala Peak (5,732 m.) and finally reached Everest Base Camp at 5,200 m. on 05 April. There caravan to Everest Advance Base Camp at 6,400 m. took 7 days, from there they started the ascent and finally reached summit on 16, 17 and 19 May.
On 16 May, Mr. Gil Woo Kim, Ms. Mi Sun Go, Mr. Sung In Yi, Mr. Ju Jin Kim, Mr. Jaesoo Kim, Mr. Sangho Lee and Mr. Chi Won Yun summited Mt. Everest together with climbing Sherpa’s Mr. Jumic Bhote, Mr. Tarke Sherpa and Mr. Ngima Dandi Sherpa at 6:00 am. (Nepalese Time).
On 17 May, Ms. Gui Hwa Song and Mr. Jae Bok Jeang summited Mt. Everest together with climbing Sherpa Mr. Sange Sherpa at 7:00 am. (Nepalese time).
Similarly on 19 May, Mr. Kyeong Hyo Park and Mr. Sam Jun Youn summited Mt. Everest together with climbing Sherpa’s Mr. Ngima Tenji Sherpa at 8:30 am. (Nepalese Time).
This is the biggest team of Koreans taking summit for the first time. One expedition member Mr. Chi Won Yun summited without oxygen. Mr. Sung In Yi living in the U.S. made his summit at the age of 60. The team returned to Kathmandu on 26 May after the successful mission & left for home on 28 May.
