Great Himalaya Trail in Nepal

GOKYO, KALA PATTAR & EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK

(19 days)

The ultimate challenge to the ‘just-do-it’ ambitious trekker. This moderate to challenging graded trek takes to you to the foot of Mt. Everest traversing across the high Cho La pass at an elevation of 5420 m. Also included is the opportunity to trek to the summit of both Gokyo Ri [5340m.] and Kala Pattar [5554m.] for magnificent views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Cho Oyu. A visit to Everest Base Camp will give you the chance to have a closer look at the spectacular Khumbu Icefall.

Beginners or inexperienced climbers can take this trek, but this trek requires one to be moderately fit. Considering the snow conditions over Cho La Pass, the trek may not be advisable during winter [January & February] and the monsoon season [July & August].

"Meg,Lama & Soros really made us feel like part of a family. They got us everything we needed and really helped us on our trek. We enjoyed every minute with them. The meals during the trek were basic but acceptable. It was nice to stay in lodges that had a private bathroom. Most of the lodge owners and staff were friendly and helpful. The itinerary was great- very flexible and totally dependant on what our group wanted orneeded to do." “The meeting & handling was very good. Samundra was conscientious and ensured that we understood all details. Was always on time for meet & greet.Kumari answered our questions quickly & in good detail. Our guides were excellent. Da, Dendi & Karma were exceptional throughout the whole trek. They were very friendly, informative and made sure we were well looked after. Meals were ok considering the location. No one got sick, so quality was ok. The service at
each lodge was good. All staff were friendly and helpful. All transportation was excellent and always on time. Please provide a better choice of hotel in Kathmandu so people can choose better ones if they want. For full lodge trek, I would put aside 1000-1500NRs for personal expenses per day (the odd drink, hot shower, tissues etc).”

GOKYO KALA PATTHAR EVEREST TREK

"Thanks to Lambabu and his excellent professionalism, we have completed our trekking trip as per the plan. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for choosing Lambabu as our guide.

Lambabu has been the best guide we could ever dream of having – his organizational skills and knowledge of the region were beyond reproach. He was always polite, honest, and so pleasant. We really enjoyed his company, as well as the two crews – who were also as pleasant and helpful as Lambabu. Lambabu chose the best porters/assistants as we could imagine of having, and the way he dealt with them were also very nice and we really liked it. It is also worth noting that he paid attention to our health throughout the trek, and despite the fact that two of us got mild altitude sickness, with his advice and timely medication, we all managed to trek in good health and spirits. Lambabu was also attentive to our demands – such as the need for decent toilets and accomodation. We are sure that it was not always easy.

All in all, we are all very happy about the trekking trip we had – it was once in a life-time experience for sure. Thank you so much for organizing this trip for us!

We hope to go for another trekking trip in future with your company, and hopefully once again with Lambabu and his crews."

"We got to know about your company while browsing the internet and through the Lonely Planet Guide. The meeting and handling was excellent. All the staff were very helpful. Our guide Lamababu was exceptional, very experienced, friendly and professional. Our Porter Mangal was also very friendly and helpful. Meals and tea houses were all better then expected. Camping service was also very good. The lodges were all very nice , particularly on the Gokyo side. Itinerary was good, having enough flexibility to accommodate illness and to suit individual needs. Keep up the good work!"

"The airport meeting and handling was very professional and on time. The guide Sudhan was very knowledgeable and supplied a lot of information. He suggested and took me on side treks as I wished and went above and beyond his duties. The meals were great. My guide and porter always made sure I had a nice room and single comfortable lodging. The service was always good. The hotels were nice. They even supplied extra blankets I requested. The itinerary was well planned and I liked how it was also flexible depending on my desires. I really enjoyed this trek, especially thanks to Explore Himalaya and their staff for making a stress free trek. I would recommend them to friends."
