The ministerial cabinet of Nepal government has decided to open an alternative route for the climbers of Mount Cho-Oyu on June 17, 2007. According to the press release issued by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the alternative caravan route for Mount Cho-Oyu will be Kathmandu-Lukla-Namche-Gokyo-Ngajumbakhang Chuli to Cho-Oyu.
The royalties for Mount Cho-Oyu via Ngajumbakhang Chuli has been waived by the government. Similarly for the ones climbing Ngajumbakhang Chuli, the royalties will be charged as per the existing rules and regulations for the permit.
